Exciting News for the Village of Moravia, NY!

Quote

We are thrilled to announce that six transformative projects have been selected for funding under the NY Forward program, bringing a total of $2.25 million in investments to our beloved village. These projects aim to enhance our community's infrastructure, support local businesses, and create vibrant public spaces for all to enjoy. Here’s a breakdown of the exciting developments:

1. Establish a Small Project Fund to Support Mixed-Use and Commercial Property Improvements ($300,000)

This fund will extend the impact of NY Forward by supporting additional smaller projects beyond those directly funded by the program. It’s a fantastic opportunity for more property improvements throughout our village!

2. Transform Former Bank Building at 142 Main Street into the “Main Street Tavern” ($500,000)

A new chapter begins for the former Elmira Savings Bank building as it transforms into the “Main Street Tavern.” This project will bring a new bar and restaurant to the heart of downtown Moravia, providing a new social hub for our community.

3. Improve Main Street Streetscape to Support Local Businesses and Pedestrian Activity ($640,000)

Building on the recent NYS DOT intersection improvement at Cayuga and Main, this project will extend streetscape enhancements along these two blocks, stretching approximately 875 feet. These improvements will foster a more business-friendly and pedestrian-friendly environment.

4. Redesign Ethel Fuller Park to Improve Safety and Better Serve Community Needs ($392,000)

Ethel Fuller Park is set for a significant upgrade! The project will make the park safer and more accommodating for family and community recreation. Planned improvements include upgraded playing courts and a larger pavilion.

5. Transform a Vacant Building at 66 Central Street into a New Restaurant ($328,000)

The vacant former medical office at 66 Central Street will be renovated into Rowan’s Bar & Grill, a vibrant new restaurant, bar, and event space featuring outdoor seating and an event lawn.

6. Create Flexible New Outdoor Space for Community Use at Powers Library ($90,000)

Enhancing the Powers Library grounds, this project will introduce new outdoor amenities such as seating, improved lighting, and landscaping, creating a flexible space for community events and activities.

These projects represent a significant investment in Moravia’s future, fostering economic growth, enhancing public spaces, and enriching the quality of life for all residents. We look forward to seeing these projects come to life and their positive impact on our community!

Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved in these exciting developments.

Together, we are building a brighter future for Moravia!
