By Nate Robson / The Citizen

Thursday, October 8, 2009 11:50 PM EDT
AUBURN - The town of Owasco's highway superintendent pleaded not guilty in Cayuga County Court Thursday to felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly falsifying his son's time sheet three years ago. Michael Wilson, 48, is accused of submitting a false time card on behalf of his son to the town in 2006 and for failing to report his water meter readings at his home.

Owasco Town Supervisor John Klink has defended Wilson ever since state police charged him with offering a false instrument, a felony and two counts of falsifying business records, both misdemeanors, last year. In previous comments made to The Citizen, Klink said the charges stem from a clerical error that the town was made aware of. In 2006, Wilson's son was a summer employee with the town and a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, serving two weeks at Fort Drum, Klink previously said.
